Enabling Threat Protection

Enabling Threat Protection

EcoVPN allows trusted users to activate and customise DNS filter tiers inside encrypted tunnels. These filters suppress hostile domains, trackers, botnets, and phishing attempts. Suppression levels are tied to referral tier and sponsor oversight.

Activation Steps

  • Log into your EcoVPN dashboard
  • Navigate to Threat Settings under your referral profile
  • Select a suppression tier:
    • Basic: Trackers and ad domains
    • Advanced: Malware, botnets, phishing
    • Custom: Tier 3 only - domain group control
  • Click Enable and allow up to 30 minutes for DNS resolver sync

What Each Tier Controls

  • Tier 1: Can use default filtering only
  • Tier 2: Can toggle filter type and submit filter requests
  • Tier 3: Can upload blocklists, suppress by region, and revoke filter inheritance

How to Confirm It's Working

  • Visit a suppressed domain (e.g. ads.google.com) and verify blank load or failure
  • Run dig or nslookup and confirm 0.0.0.0 suppression IP
  • Use dnscheck.tools to audit resolver output

Advanced Filtering Options

  • Enable filtering for specific regions (e.g. block CN endpoints)
  • Suppress by domain group (e.g. telemetry, social media, malware)
  • Track audit logs for each blocked domain inside dashboard → Filter History

“Threat protection isn’t just a setting, it’s referral-verified infrastructure trust applied to your signal.”
